The name cookie was derived from Unix objects called magic cookies. A cookie is a type of file that is sent by a web server to the web browser. When you visit a web site, cookies are used to record the activities of the web browser and save it to the hard drive of the computer. These cookies are used to determine where users tend to be more frequent. This information is used by a web server so that they can customize the web pages according to the user’s preferences. For example, cookies can remember your username and your password in a certain web site so that next time you log in you won’t need to type them anymore. The web browser saves these cookies in a separate folder named “Cookies” or “Temporary Internet Files.” Nearly all cookies have an expiration date or some cookies are saved until you close to web browser. Some may choose to disable the cookies but if you want to get hold of the advantages sited, below are steps on how to enable cookies.
